I’m back with news from the front. Yes, I’ve been traveling. I went down home to see my Dad’s side of the family.
The first two flights were decent with little drama. The third flight was a bit different. I had to leave Dulles Airport for Lexington. On a small commuter jet. From a tarmac entry. Not good.
Finally got to Lexington a good 27 minutes early. Got my luggage, got my cab to the hotel, and then settled for the night.
I was so glad to see that big bed, just waiting to give me peace of body and mind. It was like heaven.
Car and driver picked me up the next morning and I had a calm and delightful drive to my ultimate destination. Great driver—requested him for my return to Lexington, too. The cabbie was fantastic, as well. Got him reserved from hotel to airport on the day of departure.
So far, I’ve seen most of the close cousins. I’m staying with my one remaining aunt. It’s been so many years since my last visit down here that expectations were skewed. They always get that way after a long absence.
I love these people. They are as genuine as the daylight and dark—no pretense, no games. What you see is what you get, warts and all.
I’ve shopped, purchased small necessary things and a couple not so necessary, walked more in one week than in the past two weeks—or so it seems.
My brother and sister-in-law are arriving for a short stay-over tonight. It’s been three years since I’ve seen them. That’ll be nice.
And then there’s next week. We have a few things penciled in for the week, before I have to return home. We may or may not get down to Casey County. Either way, it’ll be a good week.
Well, gang, that’s my update for now. I’ve been reading and working today. I’ve actually worked a few days this past week and gotten major advancement work done on my MG book. I should have it near ready to go by the time I get back. That’s progress.
Take care, all. A bientot,
PS: Talk to you again when I get home and settled back in. Have a great week in the meantime.
